Last year, Sue joined a very small minority of Americans who made a big leap and moved across state lines—less than 2% of the population. Sue moved from her longtime home of Chicago to a new home and life in New York City.
Once settled in her new town and new job, Sue set about finding some gals with whom she could enjoy her new city. Sue says, “My goal when I joined SocialJane was to connect with other women in NYC who were looking to make new friends and with whom I shared interests, like running, biking, dining out, movies, theater … etc. So I went to the internet and typed in “finding girlfriends in NYC.” SocialJane.com popped up.”
Sue is single, and social, and success-oriented—a no-nonsense type of gal when it comes to getting things done. So once Sue found SocialJane.com, she wasn’t shy about reaching out to other members. Sue said, “I filled out my profile completely, and then sent a couple notes to women with whom I felt it would be great to connect. I waited to see if any of the notes I sent out would elicit any responses, and they did.”
Sue’s initial email turned into a short exchange of emails, which ultimately led to an evening of drinks in one of New York’s trendier spots. “It worked out great,” Sue said of meeting her new SocialJane.com friend. We discovered that we both enjoy biking and running and art gallery openings. And even though I’ve since moved back to Chicago, we still keep in touch to this day.”
When asked for her advise to other gals just signing up with SocialJane.com, Sue said, “Like everything in life, it is about persistence. You have to be genuine and follow-up.”
